Press : Étapes Magazine

We're delighted by the amount of press MIN: The New Simplicity in Graphic Design, the new
book authored by our CD Stuart Tolley,  has received lately.  The award for 'the most of
pages dedicated to MIN' goes to Étapes, the French design and communication magazine,
who have published a 20 page extract about the project.

Press : Monocle 24 radio interview

Now in full download – Stuart was interviewed by Andrew Mueller, a journalist working
at Monocle 24 radio, about the renaissance of limited, special and deluxe edition
graphic design created for the music and publishing industries. Listen to the interview

The full interview coincided with the launch of Stuart's first book, Collector's
Edition: Innovative Packaging and Graphics, which is published by Thames &

There’s a fine line between minimal design and design that’s boring or even worse, lazy.
Remember Nigel Tufnel’s sage comment in the movie This is Spinal Tap upon seeing the
band’s disastrous album cover for the first time: “It’s like, how much more black could this
be? And the answer is none. None more black.”

There’s a rumor going around about minimal graphic design. “A lot of people say it’s really
easy,” says Stuart Tolley, who runs a design studio in Brighton, England, called
Transmission. “A lot of people say you just rely on Helvetica, or white space. And I
completely disagree.”
